(Video)Floating Instrument Platform [FLIP]
The Floating Instrument Platform (FLIP) is a research vessel that was designed in the 1960`s by Fred Fisher and Fred Speez. The ship is 108 meters long, weis 700 tons and is able to flip into vertical position in 28 minutes making it unike in the world. FLIP doesn’t have a engine so it has to be toed by a tug boat in to position where it sinks. The real amaizing part is while ship turns from horizontal to vertical almost all the furniture and tings like fridgs turn at the same time with the boat(the beds and the toilet requires manual repositioning). The ship was intended to be a research vessel but with 2.000.000 us dollars modernization in 1995 was changed into a oceanographic powerhouse.
